Terms of service
What we promise you, and what we ask of you. We have tried to write it the way we would say it, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.
In effect from September 2, 2026
What you are agreeing to
These terms cover residential and commercial cleaning by Crecy's Cleaning across Northern Virginia and the Fredericksburg region. They apply when you send us a booking request through this website.
Sending a request is not a confirmed booking. We look at every job before we accept it, and we tell you either way.
Changing or cancelling your appointment
You can change or cancel free of charge with enough notice: up to 24 hours for Standard Cleaning, Carpet Refresh, Appliance Cleaning and In-Home Laundry, and 48 hours for Deep Cleaning, Move-In / Move-Out and Commercial Cleaning — the longer jobs, whose time we cannot fill on short notice.
We count that notice to the start of your appointment's day, not to the hour of the visit. With 24 hours' notice, that means telling us before the day before your appointment begins. Your confirmation email names your service's window.
You can reschedule once at no cost within those windows. Nothing is charged when you move a date inside them.
If you cancel later than that
We charge a share of the price you agreed, to the card you booked with: 50% inside your service's window, and 100% if you cancel on the day itself. That is our only charge for a late cancellation — we will not bill you for the clean as well, and we will not seek any other remedy.
Your first one is free. We waive it automatically the first time it happens, and you do not have to ask.
It is a share of the job rather than a flat fee because that is what a cancellation actually costs us: the afternoon is set aside and paid for, and a day's notice is not enough to fill it. A big job costs us more to lose than a small one.
If we have not agreed a price with you yet, there is nothing to take a share of and nothing to pay.
Before we have confirmed your booking
Until we confirm your job you can cancel for any reason and we charge you nothing at all. We take no deposit, so there is nothing to get back.
We will not charge you against work we have not agreed to do.
If we cannot get in
If we arrive and cannot get into your home, we will wait 30 minutes and try to reach you on the number you gave us.
If we still cannot start, we treat it as a same-day cancellation and charge 100% of the agreed price. We do not also charge for the clean we could not do, and the first-time waiver applies here too.
If we cancel
If we cancel or cannot do the work for any reason, you are charged nothing and we will offer you the next date we have.
We do not charge a fee for an appointment we did not keep.
If Crecy is ill
This is a one-person business. If we cannot work, you are charged nothing and we offer you the first date we have available.
We would rather tell you early than send someone who is not us.
Repeated late cancellations
If late cancellations become a pattern, we may stop taking bookings from that address. We will tell you before we do.
We will not add extra charges on top of the cancellation fee.
If the job is bigger than described
If we arrive and the work is materially more than what you booked, we will contact you with a price before starting anything.
We will never do extra work and bill you for it afterwards.
If we cannot work safely
We may leave without finishing if there is a safety hazard, a biohazard, an animal we cannot work around, or anyone behaving in a way that makes the home unsafe to be in.
If that happens we will tell you why, and we will charge only for the time already worked.
Pets
Pets are welcome to be home. Please secure any animal that may be anxious around a stranger, equipment or noise.
If we have not got it right
Tell us within 48 hours and we will come back and redo anything we missed, at no charge.
Body camera
Crecy wears a body camera while working. It records video only — no sound is recorded at any time.
The footage is used to check our own work and to settle any question about what happened during a clean. It is never published, never used in advertising, and never shared outside the business unless you ask us to or the law requires it.
The camera is switched off before entering a bathroom, and before entering a bedroom while anyone is home.
Footage is kept no longer than we need it to check our work, and then deleted.
If you would rather we did not record at your home, tell us — when you book, in the notes, or at the door — and we will not. It changes nothing else about your booking, and it does not change your price.
Damage and loss
If we damage something while we are working, tell us within 7 days of the clean, while what happened is still clear, and we will put it right — repair it, replace it, or agree fair compensation with you.
Please put away cash, jewellery and anything irreplaceable before we arrive. We cannot take responsibility for valuables we were not told about.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for injury to anyone.
What we can and cannot do
We do cleaning and laundry, and only that. We cannot help with bathing, dressing, moving around, or medication.
That is not us being unhelpful. Work of that kind is licensed care in Virginia and we are not licensed for it, so the honest answer is to tell you rather than attempt it.
Laundry, and your machines
Laundry is done in your home, in your washer and dryer. Nothing leaves the house.
How long it takes depends on your machines, which is the one part of the job we do not control. If they cannot get through what you booked in the time booked, we fold what is finished and we do not charge for the rest.
We are not responsible for items damaged by a machine that is faulty, by missing or incorrect care labels, or by anything left in a pocket.
Please set aside anything you would rather we did not handle. We will not touch it, and we will not ask why.
Laundry we collect
Our Laundry Pickup & Delivery service is different from in-home laundry: we collect your laundry, wash, dry and fold it at our own facility, and bring it back. While it is with us, it is in our care.
We handle ordinary machine-washable clothing and household linens. We do not accept dry-clean-only items, and we cannot take anything contaminated with blood, bodily fluids, oil, solvent or other hazards, or anything showing signs of pests — we set those aside and return them unwashed.
Please empty pockets and take out cash, jewellery, medication, electronics and anything else that should not go through a wash. We are not responsible for items left in pockets, or for damage caused by care labels that are missing, wrong, or ask for more than the garment can take.
We follow care labels, we wash your laundry separately from other customers', and we treat stains where we can — but we do not guarantee a stain will come out, and ordinary wash-and-wear fading or shrinkage is not damage.
The price is the per-pound rate you chose times the weight we record on our scale, and never less than the minimum for your turnaround. You see the rate and the minimum before you book; the weight and the final price are on your receipt.
If we lose or damage an item, tell us within 7 days of getting your laundry back. We will make it right up to the lesser of the item's value or 10 times what you paid to launder it — and no more than $50 for a single item, or $250 for the order.
Supplies
We bring our own products and equipment. If you would rather we used something of yours, leave it out and tell us — we will use it, but we cannot be responsible for how your own products react with your surfaces.
Weather
If conditions make travel genuinely unsafe, either of us can move the appointment at no cost.
Paying
We take no deposit. Your card is saved when you book and charged once, after the clean is done, for the price you agreed.
Card payments are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with. We confirm by email once our payment processor reports the refund on its way back — not before, because until then we do not actually know that it is. How quickly it shows on a statement is up to your bank.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and any dispute is heard in Stafford County.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, the change applies to bookings made after it is published. It does not change a job you have already booked.
